Create an HCP Virtual Network
A HashiCorp Virtual Network (HVN) is a logical representation of a subnet in AWS that defines a IPv4 CIDR block. The platform uses this CIDR range to automatically create a virtual private cloud (VPC).
Requirements
- The CIDR block value must be a private IPv4 CIDR block within the RFC1918 address space.
- A CIDR block value must end between /16 and /25.
- CIDR block names must be unique within a project.
- You can create a maxiumum of 5 HVNs within an organization.
- HVN CIDR blocks should not overlap with your external networks CIDR blocks (e.g AWS, Azure).
Considerations
- Each HVN reserves 5 IP addresses for network services.
- Each HCP Vault Dedicated cluster uses 12 IP addresses: 6 for Vault nodes, and 6 for load balancing services.
- You can create up to 6 clusters per organization (primary and cross-region DR).
- You can create up to 5 performance secondary clusters per orgnaization.
- Primary clusters can share an HVN with other primary clusters.
- Cross-region DR and performance replication clusters must use a separate HVN from their primary cluster.
Refer to the service quotas documentation for addtional information.
